Samuel Winward was born around 1888 in Westhoughton and was the son of Samuel Winward (b.1852) and Emma Mangnall. In 1891 he was aged 3 and living at 27 Grundy Street, Westhoughton in the household of grandfather Peter Mangnall. He died in the Bolton RD in 1900.
