Margaret Green was born in Westhoughton on 22nd February 1778 and was the daughter of James Green (1750) and Sarah Haslam. On 29th November 1801 at Upholland she married William Winward born in 1777. In 1841 she was living in the household of Peter Pownall, a coal agent, at Dairy Hill, Westhoughton. In 1851 she was living with her daughter and son-in-law on their farm in Kirsby Lane, Westhoughton. She died at Barton-on-Irwell on 31st October 1852 and was buried on 4th November.
