Butler Street, Ancoats, manchester
James Bellingall started work in the Manchester cotton mills in the 1800s, became an overlooker or foreman, and then started a business as a tobacconist and stationer in Butler Street in the Ancoats area of Manchester. The photos above show the street in its last stages before being demolished in the 1950s and 1960s, and very little of the Ancoats of that period remains as it was.
