James Bellingall was born on 30th March 1795 in Manchester, and christened on 8th April 1795 in Cross Street Presbyterian Church, Manchester. He was the son of Barclay Bellingall and Ann Brandwood. He married Mary Ann Bottomley in Manchester Cathedral on 30th September, 1815. In 1841 he was living in Butler Street, Manchester, and working as a spinner. In 1847 he was described as a manager. In 1851 he was living at 29 Chapman Street, Manchester, and working as an overlooker of spinners. In 1861 he was a bookseller and tobacconist at 70 Great Ancoats Street in Manchester. He died in Manchester on 23rd October 1870 at the age of 76.
