George Ainscough was born in Preston in July 1876 and baptised at St. Peter, Preston, on 4th October. His address was given as 49 Ashmoor Street, Preston. He was the son of James Ainscough (1836) and Mary. In 1881 he was living at 65 Ashmoor Street in Preston with his widowed mother. In 1891, still at Ashmoor Street with his stepfather and mother, he was working as a cotton weaver. In 1901 and 1911 he was still at Ashmoor Street, in the household of his sister Sarah Ann Ainscough and working as a cotton weaver. He died in Preston in 1946, aged 69.
