 Elizabeth Ainscough was born in Wigan in 1862 and was the daughter of James Ainscough (1836) and Mary. In 1871 she was living at 48 Ashmoor Street in Preston. She married joiner Richard Wilcock before 1881. In 1881 she was living with her widowed mother at 65 Ashmoor Street. In 1891 she was still at Ashmoor Street with her mother and stepfather. By 1901 and 1910, both mother and stepfather had probably died, for Elizabeth and her children were living at Ashmoor Street in the household of her sister Sarah Ann Ainscough. There was no mention of husband Richard in the 1891, 1901 or 1911 censuses, though she is listed as "married".
